What advice would you give to your teenage self?
In truth, I would give my younger self a great deal of advice. So much of what we learn only comes through life experience and age. These are just a few thoughts that immediately come to mind, in no particular order.
Stop wasting money and start saving. I spent far too much of my disposable income without thinking about the future. Get onto the property ladder earlier and learn to drive sooner. I did not start driving until I was 24, and I waited until around 33 to buy a flat. In hindsight, both could have happened earlier and I should have started pension savings earlier as well.
Be more confident when it comes to dating/froendships. Put yourself out there, relax and enjoy it but don’t take it so seriously.
Find a hobby and commit to it. If it is something creative or performance based, practise properly and consistently.
Work harder to move into the career you really want. Reach out to companies in your field of interest and be proactive about building the path you want to follow. Don’t give up.
Appreciate your parents more and never take them for granted. That one says it all without saying more.
The list could easily be much longer, but these are the first reflections that come to mind.
