Pixar are arguably producing the best Disney films these days, and this year we are getting two of them, with Toy Story 5 also arriving in the summer. Hoppers is a completely new story with fresh characters and a new setting. Whether it eventually spins off into a franchise like many other Pixar films remains to be seen, though it certainly feels like it has the potential. No doubt more stories to tell.

Hoppers follows Mabel, a teenager who discovers experimental technology that allows her to transfer her mind into the bodies of animals. By “hopping” between different creatures living in a threatened wildlife habitat, she learns how animals really live and teams up with them to try to stop a development project that could destroy their home, leading to a funny and adventurous story about understanding nature and protecting it.
This is a gentle film with a serious underlying message about caring for the environment. It is enjoyable to watch, with amazing animation and strong storytelling that makes it engaging for adults as well as children.

The soundtrack features a number of musical tracks that are enjoyable, although none quite reach the level of the big Disney music hits. Pixar and Disney often commission original songs rather than using well known artists, so perhaps some of the music may grow in popularity over time.
My wife and daughter also enjoyed the film and thought it was a fun and a decent film. I would agree.
Our local cinema is really promoting this release with merchandise and free posters, and it should perform well over the Easter holidays. The cups look really good with Mabel designs.
Overall this is very good family entertainment and should keep children happy for its 104 minute running time. Do stay until the end, as there is an extra sequence after the initial credits music. You can’t go wrong with Pixar studios.
