Earlier in the year I wrote about some of the big 2026 cinema releases and shared trailers.

Here is a new expanded list with the biggest films currently scheduled for release across the year. Many big blockbuster films to look forward to.

I’m particularly looking forward to quite a few on this list that Includes Mario Galaxy Movie, Supergirl and Yhe Mandalorian and Grogu.

January

The Bone Temple

This was a good start to the year and I enjoyed this one. It’s definitely worth a watch if you haven’t seen it yet.

February

Scream 7

Forget what the critics had to say. If you enjoy horror, this is a worthy entry in the series and well worth watching.

March

Hoppers

March sees Pixar return with Hoppers, a new animated adventure that should appeal to family audiences. I’ve just booked this one and I am looking forward to seeing it at the end of the week.

Project Hail Mary

The month also brings Project Hail Mary, a big-screen adaptation of Andy Weir’s popular sci-fi novel from the author of The Martian.

April

The Mario Galaxy Movie

I’m really looking forward to the new Super Mario movie as the first one was great fun. Thankfully there isn’t too long to wait now.

Michael

The trailer for the Michael Jackson biopic also looks promising. It stars Michael Jackson’s real-life nephew, which should make for an interesting performance. It will also be interesting to see how the film handles the later years of his life.

May

The Devil Wears Prada 2

I haven’t actually seen the original Devil Wears Prada, so I’ll need to watch that before this sequel arrives. I note it is on Disney + so will watch it.

The Mandalorian and Grogu

The Mandalorian and Grogu is another one I’m looking forward to. I haven’t seen every episode of the TV series, but I imagine the film will still be easy enough to follow. It also stars Sigourney Weaver.

June

Toy Story 5

June looks like a strong month. I still can’t believe we’re getting another Toy Story film. Many of us thought the fourth one would be the last.

Supergirl

Supergirl should also be interesting. Superman last year was enjoyable, although not quite the best of the series. Hopefully this one can improve on that.

July

Moana (Live Action)

The Odyssey

Spider-Man: Brand New Day

I expect a few more big releases to be announced for July. I’m not a huge fan of Moana, although The Odyssey looks intriguing.

This new Spider-Man film could also be one to watch.

August

Avengers: Doomsday

I’m also not massively into Marvel films, but as a Cineworld Unlimited subscriber this might be the time to start following the story more closely.

October

Whalefall

I know very little about this one so far, but it will be interesting to see how it develops. In truth, this looks more VR film than cinema movie. Maybe it shouldn’t have returned when reaching for blockbusters.

November

The Cat in the Hat

I might pass on The Cat in the Hat, although we’ll see.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping

The trailers for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping already look promising though, and that’s one I’ll definitely be checking out.

December

Jumanji 4

There will no doubt be a few more big December releases announced later in the year.

Jumanji 4 feels long overdue. Like many people, I started to wonder if it would ever actually happen.

Angry Birds 3

The Angry Birds films have been decent fun, so this should make a good option for the Christmas holidays.

Final Thoughts

Lots to look forward to. Release schedules can always change, but if even half of these films land successfully it could turn out to be a very strong year for cinemas after getting off to a good start.
