My sister and I regularly visit this pub in Gilmorton every few months for a catch-up. Since our last visit, the venue has changed ownership and undergone a £300,000 refurbishment.

We’ve always enjoyed coming here, with the food and service consistently good. I’ve reviewed this pub and restaurant previously, so this visit was more about seeing what had changed.

The new menu now includes nibbles and grazing plates, allowing you to mix and match dishes mezze-style. I opted for the king prawns, button mushrooms, Scotch egg and a side of chips. Next time, we’ll probably try some of the more traditional main meals. My sister had exactly the same.

The real highlight for us, though, was the dessert menu. There were loads of decent choices. I went for the brownie with raspberry ripple ice cream, while my sister chose the lemon cheesecake. Both desserts were really good and presented amazingly.

As expected, the service was friendly and efficient throughout. The refurbishment has also transformed parts of the interior, giving the pub a fresher but traditional feel.

If I’m honest, I did miss the old menu slightly, especially the themed evenings like grill night, which we always enjoyed. Still, it was great to see the venue busy and clearly continuing to do well.

Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos of the grazing plates, but I’ve included some pictures of the desserts below, along with menu pages. Further information about the pub and restaurant, including online booking, can be found here:
