The Crown Inn in Gilmorton is a convenient local pub and restaurant to meet up with my sister. For birthday meals and general catch-ups, it is a good venue to eat, drink, and chat.

The pub has an excellent menu and variety with themed nights that offer a carvery, grill nights, and even a fish and chip night. The service is also very good with friendly staff, hence one of the reasons for returning. Therefore, it is not surprising that the venue is popular and often has a healthy number of diners and a good atmosphere. To avoid disappointment, we always book in advance.

We have visited quite a lot over the past couple of years, and while we have tried most menu options like the carvery, we particularly like the grill nights when you can choose from steak, gammon, or a burger at a special price. I am particularly partial to their garlic bread with cheese, which is really generous in size. In truth, it is enough for two, but I can get through it!

For our last few visits, my sister and I have opted for the steak (rump), with peppered sauce and a side of onion rings. The steak, chips, and peas are presented well, and I pour the peppered sauce all over. The onion rings portion is also very generous and complements the mains.

Often we finish with a tea or coffee and occasionally a pudding. If you live near this pub, we would definitely recommend it as they make you feel welcome. Great service and food at reasonable pricing.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

“The second season is nearly done, and somehow I’ve only just discovered this show. I’m about to start the series one finale and honestly, what a great watch it’s been. It feels like 24 meets Lost, with plenty of twists and surprises along the way. I’m hoping it just keeps getting better.“
