What experiences in life helped you grow the most?
I’m going to stick with three experiences that came to mind instantly. There may be more, but these clearly stand out as the most important to me.
Rejection – This has made me more determined to succeed and to truly assess how much I want something. Many years ago, I applied for a training role and did not get the job. Instead of letting that define me, I studied the subject further and went on to gain a certificate in training practice with distinction. That setback became motivation.
Illness – Serious illness has a way of grounding you. It brings a sharp realisation that much of what we worry and stress about simply does not matter in the bigger picture. Without your health, most concerns feel insignificant. It reinforces that wellbeing must always be the priority.
Death – Appreciate people while you can. Time moves quickly, and we should learn from others while they are still here to teach us. Experiencing several family deaths in recent years has been a powerful reminder not to take anyone or anything for granted.
