What’s something most people don’t know about you?

It was a long time ago but I had the incredible experience of appearing in a TV advert!

Back in the 90s, I was part of an advertisement for travel agent Thomas Cook. At the time I worked there and my shop was transformed for the day with a camera on a track lighting and a crew.

My role was simple: to serve customers foreign currency while being filmed. Many of the customers were extras, and they were often local workers for a well-known TV show at the time called “The Bill.” For my part, I was just doing what I would do, counting out foreign currency at a bureau de change for take after take.

I was pleased when a family member spotted me in the ad, even though not many people knew I had featured in it. It was on tv for a limited time perhaps a few months after being filmed.

It was a great and memorable experience. The advert is still on YouTube which is lovely to revisit and keep as a keepsake. The only disappointment was that despite filming for hours the resulting footage only appeared on screen for about five seconds (if that).

My quick takes…
