Are you interested in learning magic, or simply curious about the art of it? If so, a brand new book from Neo Magic might be exactly what you’re looking for. This high-quality hardback, coffee-table-sized book features 30 magic effects from the mind of creator and author Vinny Sagoo.
As I am part of the magic community, I know Vinny well and I already own many of his effects. This new book brings together routines that can be performed by magicians of all levels, from beginners through to seasoned professionals. The explanations are straightforward and easy to follow, making it an excellent learning resource and a potentially great gift as well.
Neo Magic is an established magic retailer and my personal favourite place to buy magic. I’ve been fortunate enough to see Vinny perform many times and he is a regular presence at magic conventions. His reputation has grown significantly in recent years, highlighted by the fact he delivered a lecture at the world’s largest magic convention this year, the Blackpool Magic Convention (BMC 2026). I’m proud to call him a friend.

As soon as the email arrived announcing the book’s release, I quickly ordered a copy. It arrived just a couple of days later, extremely well packaged and in perfect condition. Dealing with Vinny and his family business is always a pleasure, as they genuinely make customers feel valued. There are always thoughtful touches such as bonus items included with the order and even stickers on the packaging thanking me for my purchase. It makes opening the parcel feel like a little event in itself.
The size of the book also grabbed my attention immediately (A4 and 230 pages), and the package included a free digital download as well, though this may be a limited bonus for early purchasers.
The book itself will take some time to fully read and absorb. My copy is signed and has already become my second favourite magic book that I own (sorry Vinny, but Tenyoism still holds the number one spot 😎). That said, the physical quality of the book is excellent. The hardback cover and spine are superbly produced, and the quality of Neo Magic’s products and packaging continues to improve with each release.
The effects in the book use simple, easy-to-source household items. In most cases, all you need is a standard pack of playing cards or business cards. Currently two of the effects include supporting gimmicks or props provided as a bonus, though these items are easily sourced independently if needed.

Each effect is presented in its own chapter of the book, beginning with a striking graphic artwork. The text is clear and well-sized, accompanied by very helpful photographs. This makes it easy to prop the book open and follow along while learning the routines. While I’m already very familiar with Vinny’s style and effects, those who prefer video learning will be pleased to know the book also includes a link to additional online material where Vinny talks through a couple of selected effects. More video content is expected to be added over time and is promised.
Each routine also includes a short background story along with presentation ideas, performance tips, and sometimes alternative handling suggestions. The magic featured is primarily mentalism, alongside some mathematical magic and card effects. The book includes both brand new material and some of Vinny’s best-known routines developed over the past 25 years. As a result, some effects were new to me while others were familiar favourites such as The Perfect Match.
For this review, I looked through all the effects included and plan to perform many of them as I continue studying the book more closely.

Several routines immediately stood out to me on first reading. My early favourites include Voodoodle, Tossed Out Watch, M.A.R.C, Conundrum, and Fishy Wishy.
Fishy Wishy is one of the two effects that uses a very specific gimmick currently included as an early purchase bonus, although it is easily sourced if required.
Tossed Out Watch is wonderfully simple in method but relies heavily on presentation as audience members help create the illusion of predicting the time on a watch.
Voodoodle is particularly fun and would work perfectly around Halloween with its clever voodoo doll presentation. It’s the sort of effect that will leave spectators scratching their heads after they pin a picture of a voodoo doll.

M.A.R.C is an excellent card effect where a chosen card is revealed sealed inside a box. Conundrum is another strong routine where a spectator forms a word from letters on playing cards and the magician correctly predicts the result.
Many of the effects are also suitable for younger magicians. Far too many effects to comment on them all. But routines such as the Post-it-based effect L7, along with Enlighten, make the book particularly appealing for younger learners or those new to magic. The book is visually appealing, easy to follow, and very approachable.
Another notable theme throughout is mathematics. Vinny has a clear love of mathematical magic, with many routines based around clever number principles such as Quadratic. The mathematical ideas are presented in an engaging and entertaining way, stealthily educational without any alarm bells ringing for young learners as it is all fun.

If you’re quick, the book is currently available at a special launch price and includes a digital download and bonus items. To order, visit Neo Magic here, where the product page also features a great video of Vinny talking through the contents of the book for a closer look.
A superb collection of mentalism from a leading magic creator, suitable for beginners through to professional performers of all ages. Highly recommended.

Will there be a “My Head Hurts Volume 2?” I hope so and the book certainly hints that more written work may be on the way!
