Adam Sandler remains popular, creating film content for Netflix nowadays rather than direct to cinema. He has multi-film contracts to create new content for the streamer as his films remain popular with viewers. His latest offering is Happy Gilmore 2, which is some 30 years later than the original.

I’ve watched many of his films and think I saw the original many years ago. However, as I did not remember it that well, I rewatched the original Happy Gilmore film on Netflix. I really enjoyed this first film as a classic from the 90s, which was very typical of films I watched in my younger days.
We watched the two films back-to-back on a movie night and found the second to be nostalgic in a good way. Adam is as popular as ever and has had the most fantastic career, with this latest film also doing well I expect. No doubt another case of critics generally disliking and the viewers loving Sandler. He is supported by most of the original cast, which was good to see, along with a few additional star cameos. Story-wise, while I need to keep this spoiler-free, the film has a similar feel to Happy being at Rock Bottom at film start before gaining renewed success in golf and life. This time, as you would expect, Happy has kids.
Notable returning characters are Hal L, played by Ben Stiller, and Shooter McGavin, played by Christopher McDonald. Both of whom feature a lot with regular appearances and aid story progression. While I always enjoy watching Ben Stiller, I found the character of Shooter more enjoyable to watch in this second film. Many of Sandler’s own family also appear, with his two daughters and his wife making worthy appearances.
I enjoyed watching and found the film easy to follow. Probably a case of whether you are a Sandler fan, and if so, do watch. And if you are not into golf, don’t worry as you don’t need to be.
