Since setting my weight loss goal for the 2025 in early January (6th), I never imagined that I’d be so motivated to succeed and positively alter my lifestyle. After four months, I’ve shifted nearly 3 stone and I will then be two stone away from my ideal target weight. Hopefully I will achieve that in the Summer.

I’m gradually fitting into smaller-sized clothing that I own. One particular slim-fit jacket, ideal for the summer, is now nearly fitting perfectly – something I never thought I’d fit again. Definitely a benefit of trying to get trim.

Exercise-wise, April started well with several daily 2 and 3-mile walks. Since I work from home, this is an ideal way to get exercise. Plus, it gives me some quiet time and the enjoyment of listening to music. I wrote a blog post about my walks (here), and as the month progressed, the walks became more satisfying. I discovered lots of public footpaths off the beaten track in lovely wooded areas, including a bluebell wood near where I live that I did not know existed.

I’ve been trying to increase my daily water intake because I haven’t been drinking enough and do track the consumption. I need to make more of an effort and I also noticed that I had been suffering from backache earlier in the month. After a spot of “Googling”, I found that it’s quite common after weight loss. It’s probably related to a change in posture as your body shifts and your stance changes. Thankfully, as the month progressed, it did improve and appears to have been a temporary issue.

Mid-month, I decided to weigh myself again and had lost another 12 pounds since my last weigh-in at the beginning of March. It’s a great feeling, and I’m definitely heading in the right direction! I tend to weigh myself every six weeks.

With Easter, I did get given a few Easter eggs, but I tried to keep everything in moderation and I still have chocolate sitting in my desk drawer. I did have a day off on Easter Sunday because we enjoyed a lovely Sunday Easter feast at my sister’s. To balance everything out, I increased my walking for the Easter Bank Holiday and I walked over 18 miles in that four-day weekend. In April, I actually walked over 60 miles, which I was really pleased with. Unfortunately, I had to take a few days off walking just after Easter due to catching a cold or flu. Despite this setback, I managed to keep to my calorie counting routine and I was back walking again after a few days of bed rest. Now I need to keep that up and possibly try beating that mileage in May!

I decided to buy a new Apple Watch during the month to help me monitor my fitness and exercise levels, especially when walking and during the day. I had been using an Apple Watch Series 4, but my new Series 10 offers many more features.  You can read a review of it here.

For those of you following my progress, I received an email from the calorie counting app that I use, Nutra Check. They’re looking for volunteers who’ve used their app to positively improve their lifestyles and experienced weight loss. The email also mentioned they’re interested in social posts, so I’ve contacted them. It’ll be interesting to see if I hear anything from them.

I am looking forward to further good progress during May and I will update on my progress again early next month. If you are also on a health kick/diet, do let me know how you are getting on in the comments.
