We recently returned from an amazing two week holiday and were excited to be reunited with our lovely cat Molly. We had missed her.

While away it was great to know that our cat was so well looked after. Like most, we had considered a cattery, but were aware that other options now existed that we explored. A cattery is the traditional approach of course.

We ended up booking a cat sitter who would visit Molly a few times each day in her own home.

We had concerns about using a cattery after considering pros and cons of all options available. We felt it maybe stressful for Molly to be away from home and with other cats nearby. A cat sitter was the preference as the best choice for Molly and us. We knew that she would miss our daughter, but at least her routine would be the same and she could lounge around her own home.

We gained a recommendation via a family friend to use a company called “Meow and you“ which is based in the Warwickshire area in the Midlands. We booked a meeting and Audrey visited and talked through the benefits of a cat sitting service rather than a cattery.

We did of course have concerns about leaving our cat but Audrey put our ,daughter’s mind at rest who was particularly concerned. When you meet Audrey, you instantly know that she loves cats. Molly can be slightly nervous and we knew leaving her in her own home with her things and routine was best.

A cat sitter of course potentially offers many other benefits as well as keeping your cat company which includes opening and closing blinds, putting out bins, grabbing mail etc. A great service.

Audrey is a massive cat lover and will put your cat’s welfare and safety first. We made sure that we added her to our vets as authorised to act on Molly’s behalf, to give her complete control. Another benefit was that we received lots of photos and messages about Molly while we were away so that we knew she was okay.

The price was really reasonable and the standard service is two daily visits which I would expect is common. As away for two weeks, we booked three visits a day. Breakie and evening as you would expect and then a lunch time visit. The lunch visit being Molly time where Audrey weather permitting would take Molly in the garden, eat lunch and chat and play. Molly had more play time than ever during our absence.

A fab service that minimises the stress for your cat while you are away. Yes, you will all miss each other but it will make it easier on your cat.

As we were impressed with the love and care that Audrey showed Molly, we booked future cat cover and this will be our solution from now on when needing cat sitting.

My recommendation is if you are going away, go for a cat sitter as many benefits.

If you live in the Warwickshire area we would recommend “Meow and you” run by Audrey. Her own company so not an agency providing cat care.

If not in the area, I would recommend checking out your local cat sitters.
