As I continue to focus on eating well and counting calories for 2025, I wanted to share about this book that my wife found. Diets and weight watching can be rough but part of the reason for my wife and I are successfully losing weight this year has to be in part down to this fantastic book.
A creative selection of recipes that you actually want to eat and will continue to use, as it includes some genuinely tasty food. This book contains normal foods for those weight watching with creative alternatives and approaches. Delicious recipes that you would want to eat regardless of whether you are on a diet. It contains everything from breakfast, lunch, snacks, sweets and more. About 100 recipes in total.
My wife plans the meals in advance for the weekly shop and many portions range between 400 to perhaps 800 calories. Each recipe also has a barcode on the page that scans through to the Nutra Check app to register calories that we also happen to use.
The recipes are generally easy to follow and I look forward to the variety of choices. Recently we had pepperoni pitta bread pizzas which were amazing and a good example of how you can make alternatives to still enjoy the food you love. A doughnut recipe is also included.
Quite a few friends of my wife have also bought the book after her recommendation. Here is a sample of some of the meals we have had thanks to this book and my wife’s good cooking. We normally have meals from this cook book once or twice a week and these are example of a few favourites.
Parmesan and Chicken Spaghetti
This is really yummy and one of our faves that we have most weeks. We replace the spinach with mushrooms. Really tasty and almost oriental in flavour. 449 calories per serving. A good example of a recipe that you can still adapt.

Greek Style Chicken & Orzo Salad
We have had this one a few times with chicken and orzo. A popular choice that we have most weeks. Quite decent but we do not create the dressing and add our own along with some bacon. Another good example of being able to alter the ingredients as you wish.
Very nice and quite the Summer dish.

Baked Pesto And Chicken Gnocchi
While this is not a dish I would have chosen myself, I did enjoy it. Very tasty as you cannot beat a chicken dish and we have now had it a few times.
