We love cats, and as a family, we have visited a few cat cafes. This cat cafe was in Solihull and called “A Slice of Purrfection”. Previous visits to similar setups have been in Birmingham, Coventry, and Stratford-upon-Avon. How would this café compare?

Located centrally in Solihull town centre, the venue looks well kept. Ten cats were all relaxing in the cafe environment and gaining lots of attention. A busy and popular time to visit at midday on a Saturday meant you needed to be patient at times to get near the cats. Booking in advance to reserve a table was essential, and bookings are charged at £4.95 per person for a one-hour visit.

On arrival, the lady who was serving was very polite and friendly. We were presented with menus and drink choices. We did opt for some food and ordered some sausage baps and fries. The venue was well run and the cats were well looked after. All the cats were friendly and obviously used to lots of attention. Our favourite cat was Dash who was a lovely black and white tuxedo cat.

My only criticism would be the food, which was at best comparable to children’s party food. Cheap buns and sausages along with a very small portion of fries. If the food was improved, the potential is here for an amazing cafe that provides excellent food as well.

For anyone wishing to spend time with the cats and to buy a drink while visiting, you will enjoy your visit and the setup is ideal. Avoid the food in all honesty as you will get much better from Greggs or another equivalent.

Comparing this setup to the other cat cafes , it likely sits in the middle for lovely cats and friendly service. The best cafe was in Birmingham that had very lively cats and a large and varied area for the cats with excellent food. At the bottom end of the scale was a cat cafe in Coventry that has since closed.

While it is always nice to visit new cat cafes, if they could improve the quality of the food and portion sizes (fries), they could then take the venue to the next level for service and food quality.

A nice touch on leaving was that the lady serving checked that we had experienced a pleasant visit with the cats. Worth a visit for any cat lover.
