Brownsover Hall is a well-known hotel in Rugby, Warks, which reopened last year following a brief closure and a refit. Having visited a few times before, my latest visit was specifically to eat at their Scott’s Restaurant.
Scott’s also offers lovely views over landscaped gardens. The décor is finished to a high standard, making it an appealing venue whether you are staying overnight or simply stopping for a meal. The restaurant was busy on the evening of our visit, and we were seated at a decent sized table for two featuring large, plush swivel bucket chairs.

We decided to visit because my wife holds a venue reward card, which gave us 50% off burgers on the night of our visit. Different offers run each week and the restaurant was full of locals and hotels guests.
The service throughout the evening was excellent, as it always has been on previous visits. The staff are consistently pleasant and eager to please, and the lady who looked after us was superb, she was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring we had an enjoyable evening. The timing of each course was paced well from starters right through to post-meal drinks.

The quality of the food and the overall value for money was excellent. We opted to share our starters to begin. The bread basket was generous for £5, offering fresh baked bread served alongside balsamic vinegar and oil. The mozzarella bites were equally impressive, decently sized, crispy, and tasty. They were presented over a smooth tomato mayonnaise that paired well with the dish.
The real test of the night was always going to be the burgers. Too many venues serve bland plain offerings or skimp on portions, but Scott’s got it completely right:
The Burger: Served in a brioche bun with crispy bacon, melted cheese, lettuce, and gherkins. The beef itself was top quality with no grit, and the ideal fat balance. The cheese was melted evenly over the burger patty. The best burger I have had for an age that I highly recommend. For £17 full price, it’s very good.
The Sides: The homemade coleslaw had just the right amount of mayonnaise (without drowning the cabbage) and subtle hints of light chilli. The accompanying Koffmann fries were nicely seasoned.
We rounded off the evening with a decent cup of coffee and tea. Overall, a lovely evening with attentive staff, and exceptional food It was a fantastic date night out.
