After a few months of struggling with energy, I managed to return to my daily five-mile walks by mid-July. However, with the increased temperatures, I’ve now settled on walking two and a half miles a day. This seems like a more realistic distance to maintain my daily walks.
A more worrying trend is safety while walking. You need to be aware of your surroundings and I’ve had a cyclist on an e-bike brush past me at close range and incredibly quickly. It’s ridiculous. I’ve stopped wearing and listening to music while out walking now.
I’ve been doing quite well calorie-wise this month. I’ve been using the Nutra Check Calorie Counter app for 18 months and it’s a good time to reflect and carry out a mini review of this app.
Nutra Check Calorie Counter App Review

This app has helped me immensely. I began subscribing in January 2025 and found annual subscriptions offered better value. Twelve months cost £39.99 while the monthly option is £6.99. For long-term users, the annual plan is the way to go. I also bought during a January sale and the app renews annually at £27.99. This is a competitive price compared to other apps. So do look out for offers and sales.
This app boasts an incredible food database that almost always accurately identifies food products by scanning barcodes. This helps manage calorie intake and you can also manually enter calories. Unlike other calorie trackers, it doesn’t use AI to estimate calorie content of dishes which I’m perfectly happy with. Furthermore it’s ad-free but unfortunately there’s no free version so you’ll need to subscribe.
This app offers a wealth of settings and even widgets. It has helped me shed nearly six stone and maintain my weight successfully. It’s made me more mindful of my food choices and while I enjoy treats I’m always aware of their contents and calorie count. I can also weigh in and track weight.
I plan to continue using this app and highly recommend it. Please see the previous link if you are interested in learning more. This is a genuine recommendation and not sponsored as I am a regularly customer.
Thank you all for the continued support, here’s to a stronger month ahead!
