⭐️⭐️⭐️✨3.5

My 15-year-old daughter is a big fan of Zendaya, and with the trailer suggesting something a little intriguing, we decided to watch this as a family.

First things first, this is unlikely to appeal to younger Zendaya fans. Teenagers will struggle with it, and my daughter found herself bored throughout. The marketing also feels slightly misleading, as the trailer hints at a reveal but doesn’t fully prepare you for just how dark the film becomes.

This is definitely a more serious film than a light one, more suitable for a mature audience prepared to invest in the story’s theme.

The film leans firmly into more art-house territory, which won’t suit everyone. Both Zendaya and Robert Pattinson deliver convincing performances, capturing the complexity of their characters and the challenges they face. Great onscreen chemistry.

I ended up enjoying it more than I expected, although it does feel a little long. The subject matter is heavier than anticipated, with Zendaya’s character, Emily, revealing something that significantly impacts her relationship. The film then explores the fallout from that moment and whether the couple can move forward.

A dark comedy with strong lead performances and a satisfying ending. It certainly won’t be for everyone, but if you appreciate films that dig into a character’s past and examine how it shapes who they become, there’s a lot to engage with here. I’ve deliberately kept things vague to avoid spoilers. Good but likely not for everyone.

Days before their wedding, a seemingly perfect couple find their relationship thrown into turmoil when a shocking revelation comes to light. As buried secrets surface, trust begins to unravel and their future together is called into question. Blending romance, dark comedy and psychological drama, The Drama explores how well we truly know the people we love—and whether the past can ever really stay hidden.
