TV channel Sky One is back at last, with the broadcaster finally correcting one of its more bizarre decisions. It never really made sense to axe such a well liked and entertaining channel, so its return feels long overdue.
On launch night, “The Dyers’ Caravan Park” premiered and the first two episodes dropped together. I have already watched both and it is an easy, good natured watch. The series follows Danny and Dani Dyer as they become part owners of a caravan park and set about bringing it back to life.
The opening episodes centre on the pair trying to understand exactly what the residents want from the park, hosting a Q & A session to hear views directly. From there it is straight into work, with grass cutting, general maintenance and even designing an advertising board to promote the site. Demolishing an old caravan and filming an ad to sell a new caravan was funny.
With the park split into two sections, Nutts Farm and Priory Hill, they organise a sports day to unite residents and spark a bit of friendly rivalry. It is a simple idea, but it works well on screen.
Danny is, as you would expect, hilarious throughout, while Dani comes across as warm and completely natural in front of the camera. Their interactions with residents and fellow co owners of the park provide plenty of genuine humour and charm.
If you are tuning back into Sky One, this is well worth adding to your list. It is also available to stream, and I am already looking forward to the next episodes.
