Visiting my local Cineworld cinema in 2025, I noticed the many additional films advertised beyond the latest releases. Each month special film showings and film seasons are available, allowing you to book related films or a film series. Occasionally there are even early showings for unlimited members before a film’s general release and other special events.

Our local cinema was running a Mission Impossible and Pirates of the Caribbean film season in November just gone. Then this month (December), there’s a Christmas movie season followed in January by a all the Lord of the Rings films and a David Lynch season in January. These special showings are a great way to see older films at the cinema often at a cheaper price.

The cost is almost half the price of a normal ticket at £5.99 for adults. It’s a great idea for catching up on missed cinema films or re-watching favourites. This summer I missed the latest Mission Impossible film and booked for my wife and I during the MI season. We also booked a Christmas film and a special screening. Price wise, some films are even cheaper and can be as low as £2 for some special events. You just have to monitor the schedules to keep an eye.

They also offer special “secret screenings” featuring a mystery film in advance. Also available for horror fans and is run called “secret screaming”.

As well as special screenings and event seasons, they also run world cinema, subtitled showings, movies for juniors, audio described, cinebabies, cineseniors and autism friendly showings.

It is also worth noting that Cineworld Unlimited members can also book special film showings alongside film seasons. These offer early first showings, especially for subscribers. For example, we booked to see “Eternity” five days before its general release.
