These days, I try to eat everything in moderation. While I avoid certain foods regularly, a Greggs is a handy option to grab, especially when travelling or for a treat.

Their new app offers incentives for purchasing from them and allows you to collect rewards. You can credit your wallet to spend, or use the app without adding any funds. I decided to give it a go after receiving a free coffee for signing up.

As someone who permanently counts calories, I was surprised to find that some food items aren’t as bad as you might expect calorie wise. For example, when I ordered a bacon roll, it was actually less than I expected, with only 321 calories listed on the menu screen. I also had a regular white coffee, which was £2.50 due to a special offer. It wasn’t bad at all!

The app was easy to use, and I topped up with a fiver before leaving home. When paying in store, I opened the app on my wallet, and everything worked as expected. My £2.50 was deducted from my balance. The app is great, tracking the awards available to you as you gain points. It also has a “menu page”, “click-and-drop” options, a “store locator”, “delivery” options and a “gift card” section on the front screen.

The “collect” tab helps you identify nearby stores to facilitate collection arrangements, allowing you to select a time slot before placing an order. The “scan/wallet” lets you top up funds and scan to allow payment, while also collecting rewards. The “wallet” section shows your accumulated rewards.

Navigating the app is straightforward, often offering multiple ways to complete certain tasks. The menu flows logically, linking available options. A “more” menu section includes an “FAQ”, “contact” options, and displays your “previous orders”.

The styling of the app is very Greggs and quite fun in design and to use. The “reward” system is straightforward too – you get a free Greggs item every time you scan nine stamps of any particular item. For example, since I had a bacon roll, I’m now one point closer to getting a free bacon roll once I have gained a total of nine stamps.

Greggs is Greggs, and the food quality is consistent. You get what you expect, and the value is pretty good. The bacon roll had a generous amount of bacon and a nice, soft bun. The coffee was hot, so I’d definitely come again as a Sunday treat. The app is a bonus, offering rewards. I understand you might also be entitled to special offers occasionally as an app user so I will keep an eye on that.

I must also say that all the staff I’ve encountered at Greggs have been pleasant. This has always been the case, but the recent visits are particularly memorable. The staff are efficient and friendly, quickly preparing your order.

This app is another reason to rely on your smartphone. It functions well and as advertised, which is always a good sign when a company invests in ensuring their products and apps work as promised.

Overall, a good app with handy menu selections, ordering and wallet/reward options. Download from your Apple or Google play App Stores.

“The second season is nearly done, and somehow I’ve only just discovered this show. I’m about to start the series one finale and honestly, what a great watch it’s been. It feels like 24 meets Lost, with plenty of twists and surprises along the way. I’m hoping it just keeps getting better.“
