I’ve always enjoyed visiting the “Pesto” Italian pesto restaurant in Wolvey, near Hinkley. It’s a lovely, easy-to-access venue with a decent-sized car park. Despite being a Monday evening, it was still heaving with people.

This popular chain has 12 locations, each with a main menu, a daytime menu, a children’s menu, desserts and a drinks menu. It’s been a while since my last visit, so we decided to try the daytime menu. You can order three dishes and the price varies from £11.89 to £14.99 depending on your selections.

We were greeted warmly upon arrival and seated efficiently. Our orders were taken quickly, and we started with a bread basket to act as a starter while we waited for mains. For our main course, we shared a pane all’aglio con pomodoro (garlic pizza bread) and we each ordered three dishes. I chose Arancini, Cannelloni ricotta e spinaci, and Salsiccia peperonata. My wife opted for lasagne, mushrooms, and Calamari fritti.

The dishes arrived in around 15 minutes, which was as expected. The portion sizes were reasonable, and the dishes were well-prepared. My favourite dishes were the arancini and Salsiccia peperonata. The sausage was very tasty and salted, while the cannelloni was a decent size but not as tasty as I had hoped.

We finished our meal with desserts. I had the torta al limone, which was very enjoyable and fresh-tasting. My wife had tiramisu. The food bill was reasonable for what we ordered, and the service was excellent, so we left a tip. It was a very enjoyable meal with a good atmosphere and lovely staff.

“The second season is nearly done, and somehow I’ve only just discovered this show. I’m about to start the series one finale and honestly, what a great watch it’s been. It feels like 24 meets Lost, with plenty of twists and surprises along the way. I’m hoping it just keeps getting better.“
