A shorter update this month and a mixed bag of results. I lost some 4 Ibs and I also passed the 4 1/2 stone total loss. Having now lost some 30kg, I am well on the way to hitting my 5 stone goal.

All the weight loss occurred during the first three weigh-ins of the month. However, the last two weigh-ins hit a plateau with no weight loss. I suspect I might be slightly dehydrated and need to drink more water. I hope there was still weight loss during that period, and perhaps some water retention occurred. I might also need to eat slightly more to close the calorie deficit.

I did have one brief, poor 24-hour period when I exceeded my calorie goal. A stressful situation led me to eat some treats, including a Greggs cookie and sausage roll, one day! However, I wasn’t too badly over the daily calorie count, and overall, for the month, I was below my targeted calorie intake. I remain focused.

A couple of months ago, I mentioned my intention to buy a BP smart monitor. Unfortunately, it hasn’t happened yet. A well-reviewed and reasonably priced machine has more than doubled in price on Amazon. I’m keeping an eye on it and hoping the price will go down. Thankfully, my blood pressure has also continued to improve!

Having walked daily for six months now, I’ve found that varying my walks helps avoid boredom while listening to music and podcasts. In August, I achieved a new monthly record of 114 miles of walking for exercise, beating the 107 miles I achieved in June. I also tried out a new workout buddy feature on my Apple Watch. This AI-driven tool motivates and prompts me while I walk, providing feedback on my performance, lap times, and heart rate. It’s part of the new iOS 26 Apple Watch public beta and occasionally chimes in when I’m listening to music. It’s a handy new feature that I’m sure will improve over time.

Here’s to a great month in September (hopefully) as I begin month nine of my new routine. Can I reach my goal of losing 5 stone by October?
