An update on the Magic Seats website, what I have been up to, and future content that is coming soon!

Magic Seats Website

This year the site reached its fifth year in May. The site has always evolved, and to celebrate our fifth year, I reworked the site with a complete new look with historic interviews and reviews remaining on the site. At the same time, I removed a lot of clutter and posts that were for past shows and no longer relevant.

From now on, any shows needing promoting will be shared on the Magic Seats Facebook page only. This was a change that I made for a number of reasons, but in truth, posts promoting shows gained low readership. The Facebook page works well for show info and was always the more popular way to consume info about shows to book.

As a niche site, the most popular content has always been interviews and show reviews. While I have always enjoyed the process of writing reviews and working with artists, it has also become quite difficult to gain interviews. The interviews started during lockdown when most had time on their hands. Due to work pressures, most artists struggle to make sufficient time available nowadays so I am resting that content. While I am not a closing the door completely on interviews (you never know – an opportunity may arise), most content from now on will be show reviews. I then have total control of the post and do not need to wait for contributions. There will be overall less content on the site, but I can confirm we still have show reviews planned, and this will all pick up again from September. Thanks of course to all who have given up time to date for interviews.

Upcoming Content

Do keep an eye out for these upcoming reviews that I already have tickets for. The season in the run-up to Christmas is always busy, and many more show reviews are likely to happen. This is what is planned so far…

Recent Activities

The new website took a lot of time in April/May. The old site was Wix and I had to build and manually transfer content that I was keeping into WordPress. I hope that you like it and the new site mirrors its sister site. Like I said, old historic interviews and reviews still feature.

Do check out the site below for my non magic content.

I had an audition for a magic-related achievement in late July. I am so pleased and worked hard preparing. Once I can tell you about it, I will, but I need to respect a process and wait for announcements. I know that it was a positive outcome.

Last but not least, I subscribed to The Magicians Podcast Network. Podcasts drop regularly and I had wanted to subscribe for a while for all their magic related content and news. I now have some time to listen daily when walking for exercise and I can work through new and older content from the beginning. The content is presented by Young (Richard) and Hudson (Alan). Content-wise, they talk to magicians with in-depth conversations which are insightful and funny. They also release specials which can cover a range of subjects like Magic Live and FISM (and much, much more) which are recent examples. Young is the media journalist and Hudson is the funny man and they do make me laugh out loud.

I have loads of content to catch up on and they attract all the big names in magic. Check out this link and once I have been listening a bit more, I will review:
