My wife has visited this restaurant many times. We visited recently for her birthday, and I was curious if a restaurant that only offers a set three course main menu for £20 per person would be any good.

The restaurant is friendly, with pleasant staff and nicely presented food. There are a decent number of tables/covers over the two floors.

The menu selection is smaller than most restaurants, but this is not an issue as it is a set menu with a good price. If anything, it is easier to make choices and I had a good idea of what I wanted before arriving.

Example Menu

As a table, we ordered a variety of dishes, and everyone was happy with their food quality. Service speed was fairly fast, and I had the Black Pudding Scotch Egg for starter. This was presented well, and tasted as I would have expected. For main, the steak and chips also offered good value and excellent quality. A decent-sized 10oz sirloin steak that was cooked as I had ordered.

I’m not really a pudding person, but I went for a lemon tasting plate with various bite-size choices of three lemon desserts that included a lemon sorbet.

The only issue we encountered was the table size. We had booked a table for five people but were seated at a table only suitable for four. The fifth chair at the end of the table, due to the table legs, had no space to place our feet under the table. When we asked for this to be rectified, we were informed that they had no options. This was disappointing, especially since the table next to us for six people was empty for the entire two hours we were dining. I suspect that the other table was reserved just after we left. Therefore, an option to resolve our issue could have been accommodated, especially if the solution had been, “We can offer this option to you, but we need the table back by xxxx time.” However, the staff were very friendly and approachable.

I would definitely go back. The food, staff, and pricing are all excellent, and I highly recommend it. The atmosphere was generally pleasant, although we had a large noisy table nearby with children, which wasn’t the restaurant’s fault.

Lastly, the restaurant is nicely located in Lutterworth with a public car park that was free next to it. As it was very busy on a Friday evening, I would recommend booking in advance.
