My niece Bridget introduced me to a great idea that I am going to try. Creating your own recyclable plastic bricks.

While I am not a massively green person, I do recycle as you have to these days and I like this idea as lots of benefits exist. I have also cut down on aerosol usage in the past year. I can see the good that younger generations are making to help eliminate misuse of plastic and educate so worth sharing.

The idea is to create a plastic brick… Simply store a plastic bottle of any size you like and gradually fill with plastic waste. The plastic waste filling the bottle until you can fit no more. Sweet and crisp bag wrappers being ideal.

Once thrown, it takes less space in bins and landfill. Then if it can be recycled, it’s easier as in a brick form.

Why you do it is entirely up to you, it could be to save the planet or you can just see practical reasons. But all in, a good idea shared by my niece.

When asking about whether I needed to wash the plastic as most of mine will be crisp bags, Bridget advised me “Normally with food packaging I just shake crumbs into the bin, if the package was greasy I’d probably give it a wipe but nothing major so you should be good to go”.

Thanks to Bridget for the idea and more info here.
