Most of us love an odd or random fact to make us think or even laugh. The internet is littered with websites listing useless facts and info.
Not having any such facts of my own, I took to google and randomly selected sites to list their number 1 random facts. Here are a few odd ones for you and I will let you decide if true or not (in no particular order). Click the source button to read the original facts.
- Humans have been performing dentistry since 7000 B.C., which makes dentists one of the oldest professions. Source.
- It is impossible for most people to lick their own elbow. (try it!) Source.
- Australia is wider than the moon.The moon sits at 3,400 kilometers (2,113 miles) in diameter, while Australia’s diameter from east to west is almost 4,000 km (2,485 miles). Source.
- Flamingos bend their legs at the ankle, not the knee. They essentially stand on tip-toe. Their knees are closer to the body and are covered by feathers. Source. Source.
- Avocados are a fruit, not a vegetable. They’re technically considered a single-seeded berry, believe it or not. Source.
- A cloud weighs around a million tonnes. A cloud typically has a volume of around 1km3 and a density of around 1.003kg per m3 – that’s a density that’s around 0.4 per cent lower than the air surrounding it (this is how they are able to float). Source.
- Honey doesn’t go off. Archaeologists have found pots of honey in ancient Egyptian tombs that are over 3,000 years old and still perfectly edible. You’d still think twice about putting it on your toast, though, right? Source.
- Though less common than earthquakes, the moon actually has moonquakes, too. That’s right. Moonquakes. Source.
- All the electricity powering the internet weighs the same as an apricot. Source.
- Your eyes blink around 20 times a minute. That’s over ten million times a year! Source.
