I love new gizmos and some are of course better than others. One really handy present that my wife bought me last year was a small coffee warmer (a small mains heat plate really).
This write up is more of my general thoughts about the product type than a specific review, as many are on the market.
I had previously thought that this product may be a bit rubbish, especially as many use a connection to a USB port. However, this little device keeps my coffee warm for hours on my desk while working and actually plugs into the mains socket. So convenient and no longer cold wasted coffee on my desk.
The unit that I own has a simple heat adjustment button on the front. As the heated plate gets vey hot, I have carefully positioned it. When in use, I always have a mug on it. When finished, I am able to turn off and push it out of the way under cover.
The device I own is also set to power down automatically after 4 hours for safety (if you do not switch off). Hopefully a standard feature in such devices.
While I use the warmer in my office permanently, its size is portable and could serve a purpose anywhere in the house from kitchen, lounge or even bedroom.
I use the device daily Monday to Friday for about four hours at a time. At a year old, it is lasting well and reliable. A very useful gadget.
Being impressed with the unit, I bought the same model for my wife. As she drinks tea though, you cannot leave it heating for as long perhaps I would leave coffee.
If you do check out these devices, I would still avoid the USB variety. Those who owned the USB versions that I know, reported that the products are not as reliable or efficient. They tend to be slow to heat and struggle to maintain higher temperatures.
Browsing online, lots of mains connected makes and models are available and the one I own is called BTOYM from Amazon. Currently £26.99 for the newest model. Currently it has 4.5 stars with 574 reviews. My model is the previous (square plate) with a new circular model now available. No link as not a promo and just my thoughts on these types of device.
Let me know in the comments your thoughts and if you own such a device.
