As January quickly comes to and end and I compiled a list of TV that I watched, I realised quite how much I have viewed. It is quite frightening really that in January I have watched all of these shows below which is about 60 hours. So about 2 hours a day.
However, I do have the excuse that it is extremely cold here in the UK at present. On the whole, the offerings watched were pretty good.
The highlights had to be “Mr Bates Vs The Post Office”, “Trigger Point” series 2, “Neighbours” and “The Traitors UK”. “Fool me once” also being pretty good.
The biggest surprise for me was that “Trigger Point” was so good this series after an average series 1. Wheres “The Tourist” went off the boil for series 2.
While 60 hours does sound a lot, I did manage to fit in a lot of other activities as well as quite the busy month. And I have to say that “Neighbours” on Amazon FreeVee was most enjoyable. I am a bit of a “Neighbours” fan and can think of nothing better to do than unwind with a dose of Ramsay Street after work. Thank god it is back. And for those not in the know, it’s an Australian soap which is very popular in the UK. Now available worldwide to watch.
Here is a quick round up of what grabbed my attention this month, a score and quick overview. Strangely, no films watched this month.
fool me once
An enjoyable fast paced thriller. A watchable Netflix mini series that started our TV viewing off with a bang in 2024. Featuring Joanna Lumley swearing – hilarious! F*** ***!
mr bates vs the post office
What I expected to be a slow paced TV drama was quite a thought provoking piece about the injustice of how many postal workers were treated with false convictions and even imprisonment due to faulty IT accounting software. View on ITVX.
after the flood
Another ITVX mini series, some great effects and interesting story though perhaps a little prolonged. A bit disappointing as I thought it would be better.
trigger point series 2
While I thought that the first series was average at best, this is a series that has gone from strength to strength. Edge of your seat entertainment for series 2. Another ITVX series.
the tourist series 2
While series 1 was excellent, I did not find this second series as gripping. It had its moments but the Australian outback as a setting could not be beat as the setting which featured in series 1. Found on BBC iPlayer.
brits down under
A sleepy watch if you want to chill. Just reality tv found on Channel 4. A show following back backers in Australia fining farm work.
the great pottery show down
Another channel 4 show. Just “The Great British Bake Off” using pottery. Not a bad watch. We hadn’t watched the previous series but will likely watch some of them now.
inside the factory
A documentary show working its way through the production of many famous products. The latest series including how they make Guinness/Stout and Aunt Bessies Yorkshire puddings.
22 kids and counting
While an enjoyable show and I like the family, it is coming across as a little scripted these days with planned events and happenings. Reality TV on Channel 5.
the traitors (UK version)
Series 2 was excellent. do watch this. An example of a brilliant show that has just got better if you like reality style shows. Available on BBC iPlayer. Poor Mollie!
neighbours
A favourite of mine. Always enjoyable to watch and since returning, it has now found its feet with new stories. Now on Amazon FreeVee. But let’s have more screen time for Dr K as he is often funny.
8 out of 10 cats does countdown
A Jimmy Carr mash up show on “8 out of 10 cats” meets “Countdown. A word and numbers gameshow that is pretty funny with comedians. Found on Channel 4.
I literally just told you so
Jimmy Carr’s latest quiz show now a few series in already. Worth a watch and amusing. Found on Channel 4.
