Shocking treatment of homeless has to stop

Yesterday I witnessed a poor gentleman that had likely suffered a health emergency. I don’t know the details but he was being looked after by good Samaritans who had him seated and covered in a foil blanket to keep him warm.

Why is it that many will help and look after others when a small minority will cause suffering to those in need?

I effectively spent a night out sleeping in my car the other night so can appreciate how cold and difficult it could be for homeless to keep warm. Like many, I was saddened to learn about a security guard mopping around a homeless person and soaking their few belongings including a sleeping bag. It has made the news today (link below).

In this country as a whole nation (particularly government) we are not doing enough to help the homeless. We have a massive problem and need solutions to support. Those who have a problem with the homeless should leave them alone and not victimise them. Hard times can happen to anyone. I hope the security guard learns some life lessons to better understand how to treat others and that the homeless man now gets some support and help.

It will be interesting to see how the story develops. I don’t want to see the security guide victimised either but can only hope it has some positive outcomes to help the homeless. Let’s also hope the security guard learns from his mistakes.
