I started last month with a purchase of some new smart scales. Our scales weren’t bad, but I wanted a newer model that would connect to my phone/apps and capture not only my weight but other metrics like BMI. That way, I would be recording as many ways to track my health as possible. So far, I have been impressed with it, and the review is here.

I will need to get a new smart blood pressure monitor next, and I think I have found one. I love tech, so while I have an old BP monitor, I probably need a new one, and it makes sense to get a smart BP monitor. It would also be good to confirm that my BP has decreased with my weight loss. I will let you know about the model that I buy and how I get on with it as I will likely review it. I think I have decided on the model, which seems good and has no subscription. Can you believe it that some of the smart BP machines have a subscription? What a joke, just because it has the function to send data to health providers.

At my current rate of weight loss, I should meet my overall goal of a five-stone weight loss by the end of August according to the apps that I use. That will be an amazing achievement.

If you follow this blog, you know that I walk daily. I changed my walking routine a little this month and aimed to walk at least three miles every day, and I achieved 107.5 exercise miles in total for June, which surpassed the 93 miles I walked in May. I also had to give myself a break from walking for two days as I felt like my knee was bruised and I did not want to damage it. Rest was needed.

Strangely, I do not feel tempted to fall into my old bad eating habits. I even managed to go into a McDonald’s during the month (as my daughter wanted a drink), and I just bought a zero drink for myself, and I did not even consider a burger, etc. I have not touched their food since 2024, which is a record for me.

Overall, a good month continuing to walk and keep calories under control. When I weighed in, I had lost 7lb over the month. Very pleased with that result and certainly the constant tracking of exercise and calories helps. Therefore I have achieved 80% of my desired weight loss with 1 stone left to go.

Next month I have a challenge. It will be holiday time and I will, of course, need to eat out, but balance the exercise to compensate. I will let you know how I get on!

May 2025 vs Dec 2024!

“The second season is nearly done, and somehow I’ve only just discovered this show. I’m about to start the series one finale and honestly, what a great watch it’s been. It feels like 24 meets Lost, with plenty of twists and surprises along the way. I’m hoping it just keeps getting better.“

“What did you think? We thought it was a decent enough start overall. The opening political sketch felt like the wrong choice and may have turned some viewers off early, but the titles were strong and Tina Fey was a smart pick to launch the show. We wanted to give it a try and didn’t expect to enjoy it, but it wasn’t too bad. There were some genuinely good sketches and live moments, although the Paddington idea felt like a missed opportunity. It’s clear the show needs to feel British, but in this first series it should still lean into…
